Meet Takoradi-born Ghanaian musician and songwriter Kofi Kinaata.

Kofi Kinaata, the sensational Ghanaian star known as the master of fante rap, is one of the country’s unique artists.

Kofi, who claims he’s a “rising star,” has been helmed by High-Grade Family CEO Tony Pan since 2013.

Here’s everything you need to know about the lovable star.

biography and age

His real name is Martin King Arthur but popularly known as Kofi Kinaata. The young rapper was born and raised in Effiakuma, in western Ghana.

He grew up in a Christian home with a pastor who taught Bible study at church.

For his education, he completed his secondary education at Takoradi Technical Institute where he built a huge following as his talent was always shown for him since he was in school.

The rap star has been involved in many competitions on various radio stations and entertainment platforms. Kofi Kinaata was the first runner-up of the Melody FM Kasahari Battle in 2009.

His age has been very controversial at the moment as everyone suspects since he managed to keep it hidden.

Kofi Kinaata Dating and Girlfriend

A very young man who is handsome and successful, one would naturally expect him to have a girlfriend or be in a serious relationship. For now, however, he has revealed that he is single and ready to mingle.

rap career

A distinctive feature that distinguishes a rapperfrom the others is his clarity of words. More than the poetic quality and pacing of the rendition, rap music makes little or no sense if the audience can’t grasp the lyrics. Kofi Kinaata is one of the best Ghanaian rappers with this quality which is why many love him and his songs. This earned him the title of Fante Rap Gad (BRD).

“I make my words so clear that those who cannot even speak Fante can clearly understand what I am saying.”

The clarity of words is evident in his works such as Susuka , Confession and Onnyi Chor .

Almost 3 years in the industry the rapper has more songs in the highlife/hiplife genre from the leading artists in Ghana who have worked alongside big shots like Samini, Kwaw Kese, Castro and Sarkodie.

His path crossed paths with Castro during one of his local appearances for the Takoradi community. Over time he had his break in the music industry.

Proudly African flavor

With his top notch rap talent, Kofi doesn’t go all the way west as 90% of his music tracks represent Ghana and Africa as a whole.

He uses his native language as his signature style and creatively adds traditional African proverbs to his lyrics.

The self-proclaimed “King of Punchlines” gave the Fante folks something to be excited about when he released his 2015 Made in Taadi. The song presented their annual Anko’s Christmas celebration.

Susuka inspiration

Kofis’ Susuka seems to be the hottest of all his songs. The star says his father was the inspiration for the award-winning song. His father’s view was that modern music was loud and empty. So he did the song to change that perception.

The motivational song earned him the Vodafone Ghana Music Award and became one of the most viewed videos from the western region on Youtube, reaching 1 million views.

Kofi’s motivation

Growing up, the star, who is a reggae fan, said he listened to Joseph Hill’s songs so much. In this way he appreciated his message of peace, love and unity.

Likewise, he always wants to offer his fans the best. The artist feels challenged to be better than his previous work and does not trust past glory.

Overall, he was motivated by Amy Newman, a gospel artist.

perfomance

Kofi Kinaata won three different awards at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards – Highlife Song of the Year for his song Confession; Songwriter of the Year and Highlife Artiste of the Year .

In 2016 he won Songwriter of the Year and Best New Artist of the Year awards in the same platform.

The song “Confession,” released in December last year, spoke to the whole country and made it one of the best songs of the year. Seem to share with Carrie Underwood’s Jesus, Take the Wheel , the song was used by the Minority Party (NDC) as their 2017 theme song.
