– After Florida state prosecutors decided to withdraw their gun violations lawsuit provided he completes a drug rehab regimen, Artist Kodak Black is eyeing a 2021 jail release.
“In November (19), after falsifying documents on federal forms to buy three guns in Miami, the “ZEZE” singer, real name Bill K. Kapri, was sentenced to spend 46 months behind bars.
Katherine Fernandez Rundle, Miami-Dade State Attorney, has brought different state charges with regards to the same event, charging Kodak, who turns 23 this week (June 11), of three counts of felony possession of a weapon by a person under 24.
However, since then, Bradford Cohen, the troubled MC’s counsel, has made an arrangement with Fernandez Rundle to put the matter to an end without making his client spend further jail time, which may have contributed to an extra 15 years.
Instead, they decided that Kodak, who has been locked up since his conviction in May 2019, must undergo a 500-hour course in substance recovery, but the initiative is not provided by the new maximum security facility in which he is held.
According to TMZ, Cohen argues that the state felonies hovering over Kodak will no longer qualify him to be released to a lower-security prison where he will engage in substance rehab, and he will be able to complete the remainder of his term in a halfway house after he records his 500 hours.
