Kim Carnes is a well-known American singer and songwriter who was born and raised in Los Angeles. She began her musical career in the 1960s, focusing first on composition for other performers. She sang at local bars while also working as a session background vocalist with the famous Water Sisters, who were featured in the documentary “20 Feet from Stardom.”
Carnes released her debut album, “Rest on Me,” in 1971, after earning her first publishing deal with Jimmy Bowen.
