Kidd Jordan cause of death: What happened to the New Orleans legendary Jazz saxophonist?

Edward “Kidd” Jordan, a jazz saxophonist and music professor from New Orleans, Louisiana, lived from May 5, 1935, until April 7, 2023. From 1974 to 2006, he was an instructor at Southern University in New Orleans.

Jordan was born in Crowley, Louisiana, and raised there when the region’s primary economic activity was rice growing. According to Jordan, the predominant musical genres in southwest Louisiana were strictly Zydeco and Blues, which is what I grew up listening to. Illinois Jacquet and Clifton Chenier, two musicians that play zydeco, are both from the same region (whose music teacher also instructed Jordan).

After years of deteriorating health, avant-jazz New Orleans saxophonist Edward “Kidd” Jordan passed away at home on Friday. His daring, largely improvised style put the moment above melody. He was 87.

His wife Edvidge Chatters Jordan and their seven children, Edward Jr., Kent, Christie, Paul, Stephanie, Rachel, and Marlon, are the only survivors.
