Kevin White Biography

Born in Plainfield, New Jersey on June 25, 1992, wide receiver Kevin Romone Jr. White began pursuing the dream of becoming a football player when he was very young. He attended Emmaus High School in Pennsylvania and was part of the football team but never shone as he played either on the bench or in corner kicks for most of the season.

However, just before his senior season Kevin exploded and was consequently named an All-Lehigh Valley Athletic Conference receiver and defensive back in his senior year. His academics suffered, however, and as a result of his poor grades, he was forced to enroll at Lackawanna College, a private university with extensive experience developing Division 1 football players.

He spent two seasons at Lackawanna before transferring to West Virginia University in 2013. In his freshman season, Kevin played 11 games, started nine and had 35 receptions for 507 yards and five touchdowns. Still continuing as a starter in his senior season, he finished the season with 109 shots for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Kevin White was a force to be reckoned with in the game, earning an All-American and a finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award.

He was drafted by the Chicago Bears 7th overall in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft, and on May 6, 2015, he signed a four-year contract valued at $15 million, including a $10 million signing bonus.

However, Kevin’s professional career is not over yet, as everyone believed to have been plagued by injuries even before his rookie season began. He developed an off-season stress fracture in his left shin as a rookie and although the Bears initially tried to let it heal on its own, he continued to feel unwell throughout training camp. As a result, the club’s first round selection was dropped for the 2015 season.

Kevin White later underwent surgery on August 23, 2015, where a steel rod was inserted into his left tibia to stabilize the injury. He was subsequently included in the list of physically incapable teams. After making a full recovery, the soccer player returned to the field the following season but suffered a severe ankle sprain that resulted in a fractured fibula in the same leg he injured the previous year and ended up on injured reserve at Week 5 .

Kevin fractured his left shoulder blade again in the 2017 season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. He was placed on injured reserve for the third consecutive season on September 10, 2017.

Due to his inability to stay on the field, the Bears declined Kevin White’s $13.9 million fifth-year option in early May, his base salary ($2,693,597) for however, the 2019 season is fully guaranteed.

His career stats

In an unfortunate situation, Kevin White has failed to live up to expectations since joining the Bears. He missed 43 games out of 48 and only played 4 games.

In 2015, he spent his entire rookie season on the physically incapable list.

In 2016, he started four games, recording 19 receptions for 187 yards (9.8 average) and one rush for 9 yards (9.0 average).

During the 2017 season, he played two passes for six yards in one game.

He started five games in three NFL seasons, catching 21 passes for 193 yards and one for 9 yards.

family, brother

White was born to Kevin White Sr. and Tammy White. He is the couple’s first child and has five siblings, including three boys – Kyzir, Kizer and Ka’Raun, and two girls.

As children, the White brothers dreamed of becoming NFL players and indulged in all sorts of sports, including basketball, video games, and cornhole.

Kevin’s brothers were the first to naturally follow in his footsteps, moving from Emmaus High School to Lackawanna College and West Virginia, where they all played soccer.

Currently, Ka’Raun and Kyzir have found their way into the league: the former playing for the Cincinnati Bengals as a wide receiver and the latter as an outside linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers.

One of Kevin’s sisters, Kiyae, plays basketball for the Auburn Tigers on an athletic scholarship.

Although Kevin’s career and NFL dreams seem dashed due to injuries, his brothers are optimistic he will come back stronger than before.
