Apparently, he was arrested for a shooting on 25 April 1978 at 6934 S. Benton Avenue. In the shooting, the death of three people occurred, John Walker, Sherrie Black, and Larry Ingram. As a suspect, Kevin was charged with capital murder.
However, the two people, Vincent Bell and Kilm Adkins, who had admitted their crime, said that Kevin was innocent. The same testimony was provided by the lone survivor, Cynthia Douglas. Apparently, she had firstly testified against him but later said that he was not guilty.
Their testimonies and investigation enabled the St. Louis prosecutors to plead him innocent. As a result, the prosecutor Jean Peters Baker called Missouri’s Governor Mike Parson for a pardon. The governor pardoned 12 people but had doubts about Kevin’s innocence.

Kevin Strickland has been in prison for a long time. The prosecutors claimed he is innocent. So, is he innocent or guilty?
It looks like he is innocent, judging from the testimonies of the three involved individuals. The majority of the people following the case seem to believe that he is innocent. However, the Missouri Supreme Court denied a petition to free him without any explanation.
Hence, it looks like Kevin is still guilty as the Missouri governor has said that he wasn’t proven innocent in the court of law.
