In a three-way tie for first place, he guided his team, which included his brother Jamie at third, second Mark Whitehead, and lead Kevin Whitehead, to an 8-3 round-robin record. This earned them a direct berth in the final against Colin Davison of Alberta, whom they defeated 6-5.
He traveled to Alberta for school the following year and advanced to the finals of the 1995 Alberta Junior Championships, where he was defeated by Cameron Dechant. It was his team’s sole defeat in the competition.
