Kevin King is a University ofWashington cornerback who was the first pick for the Green Bay Packers in the April 2017 National Football League (NFL) draft. Before joining the NFL, he played safety and eventually corner kick positions on the gridiron in college and was predicted for success due to his amazing performance.

Who is Kevin King? His bio

Kevin Charles King, known simply as Kevin King, was born on May 5, 1995 in Oakland, California. As a child he played baseball and basketball. He also played soccer with initial intentions of playing quarterback, but his 5ft 7in height made it impossible because he couldn’t see over the scrimmage line.

He attended Bishop O’Dowd High School, where he played soccer under coach Hardy Nickerson, a former Green Bay Packers player. He also continued in baseball and track, but had to give up after experiencing rapid growth that took him to 6ft 2in while he was still in junior high.

Prior to his senior year, he was named Defensive Most Valuable Player (MVP) at Oakland Nike Football Training Camp. The win, according to the player, “gave him a little bit of confidence” and convinced him he had what it takes to play with the superstars. He finished the season leading the team with 6 interceptions. Maxpreps.com named him a 3rd Division All-NorCal First Team and All-State First Team.

By the time he graduated from high school, the cornerback was rated three stars by Rivals.com as the 73rd recruit in California. He was wanted by many universities, but he decided to pitch his tent at Washington University, where he played for the Washington Huskies from 2013-2016 while earning degrees in American Ethnic Studies and Retail Management.

Kevin King played to safety in his first and last game of his sophomore year, becoming the first true freshman to start a game for the team in 2013. Unfortunately, an injury prevented him from participating in several games, including his first bowl game against BYU. His best game of the season is considered to be against the UCLA Bruins, where he recorded 4 tackles and an easy recovery.

During his sophomore year, he appeared in 13 games, 12 of which started at the safety position. He also made his first career interception in the Apple Cup against rival Washington State and played the first bowl game of his collegiate career with 9 tackles.

The young star started playing as a cornerback in his younger years and while he maintained his strong game, injuries forced him to stay off the field for the bowl game. King received an honorable mention on the All-Pac-12 team and, due to his excellent record, decided to forego his senior year and draft for the NFL draft. However, Jimmy Lake, the Huskies co-defense coordinator, advised him against it and followed the advice. Kevin King returned to develop and become a better outside corner. Lake believed he was the position he would most likely play in the NFL.

At the end of his senior year, King had 2interceptions, 44 tackles and 3.5 for a loss. This earned him an honorable mention on the All-Pac-12 team for the second time and also an honorable mention on the academic All-Pac-12 team.

Kevin King is 1.91 m tall. Prior to his NFL draft, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein predicted that he possesses an unusual height for corner position in the first through second rounds, which he effectively uses to his advantage in addition to his other areas of strength. The player also had some weaknesses in terms of his speed and footwork, which led some sports analysts to persuade him. However, Kevin King’s outstanding performance at the NFL Combine was a major concern. As a result, he was ranked the third-best cornerback by NFLDraftScout.com. Sports Illustrated ranked him seventh, while ESPN considered him the fifth-best cornerback.

Finally, the Oakland native was picked by the Green Bay Packers on day two of the 2017 NFL Draft. He was the 33rd overall winner. King was unable to attend any of the organized team activities due to the outdated rule that prevents beginners from coming to OTAs while her school is still in session. Still, he spent the time familiarizing himself with the playbook with the help of cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt.

During his rookie season, King played a total of nine games, starting with five. Unfortunately, he was dealing with a shoulder injury for most of the season that dislocated many times. Despite trying to endure the pain for most of the season, he was eventually placed on injured reserve at week 13 and later had surgery.

His family

Currently there is no information about Kevin’s family – parents and siblings. However, during an interview, he revealed that he had a girlfriend whom he referred to simply as Aaliyah.
