Kevin Hart thanked his father for everything
Kevin Hart father recently passed away at the age of 73. Hart took an Instagram to announce the sad news.
In the Instagram post of October 13, 2022, Kevin wrote a heartfelt message while announcing his father Henry Robert Witherspoon’s demise.
He said he was thankful for everything his father did for him.
“RIP to one of the realest & rawest to ever do it…Love you dad. Gone but never forgotten….Give mom a hug for me….y’all did good man. Thank you for everything….I’m a better father because of you. We will all make you proud….” Kevin said in his Instagram Post while announcing his father’s departure.
He posted a bunch of photographs in his father’s memory while announcing his passing, where his father was seen spending quality time with family members.
Shortly after the announcement of his father’s passing, Kevin posted a video of his father on the Instagram post, where his father was seen mentioning that he has cancer. He said that he wants to leave better memories for his family and children. So, he wouldn’t give up being happy and positive.
While tributing his father, Kevin mentioned that he and his family along with his brother would keep making him proud and he would never give up.
Kevin also has posted some videos with his father captioning that he will find ways to laugh in the pain because laughter heals.
Kevin thanked his father for helping him become a good and better father to his children.
Kevin Hart Relationship with his father
Kevin Hart father Henry Robert Witherspoon remained absent from most of Kevin childhood.
His father, Henry, was always in and out of prison due to his drug addiction issues. But he eventually got recovered from his drug addiction and later reconnected with his family.
Kevin decided to improve his relationship with his father on a positive note rather than thinking about past issues. His decision of building a better relationship with his father turns out to be great as his father tried to understand his feelings and look at things from Kevin’s point of view.
In the memoir written by Kevin in 2017 named ‘I Can’t Make This Up’, he mentioned about his father who was a drug addict and alcoholic.
He remembered how his father would often keep him in danger and sometimes bring stolen items for him and his brother as gifts.
But even though his father has committed various mistakes, Kevin still loves and respect his dad, which is the foremost reason for forgiving him.
He said that the past is unchangeable and he knows nobody is perfect. So rather than dwelling in past, he likes to move forward. He said that he is fortunate enough to provide for his father with everything he has and help him be a good grandfather.
In 2017 during an interview on “The Late Night Show with Stephen Colbert”, Kevin mentioned that because of the mistakes his father made he now knows the value of being in present and he has become the best dad walking on Earth.
He said that he converted his father’s mistakes to his advantage while parenting. He is trying to spend more quality time with his children and family unlike his father and is trying his best to not repeat the same mistakes that his father once made.
And he is grateful for this lesson that his father taught.
Kevin and His Mother
Kevin Hart mother name was Nancy Hart. Nancy Hart worked as a system analyst at the University of Pennsylvania to raise her two sons and give them a better life.
Kevin’s father spent most of his time in prison as he was often legally charged with drug addiction. So, the burden of managing the house and raising her both children came upon Nancy.
Remembering his mother, who passed away in 2007 after battling ovarian cancer, Kevin says that she was the bridge to connect his family. Nancy was always the pillar of his family who held family members together.
Kevin often shares his memories about his mother. He remembers that his mother was strict and always encouraged him and his brother to participate in extracurricular activities in school.
She was always supportive of Kevin’s dream of becoming a stand-up comedian. Kevin once opened up in a podcast, that he was kept in dark by his mother about her cancer as she does not want him to lose a good opportunity in his work. He only found out about it a week before her demise.
He said that he found a bunch of newspaper articles about him in his mother’s room while cleaning it after her departure.
“Hope I am making you proud momma. I miss you & I wish you were here to physically see some of the stuff I have been blessed enough to see & experience. I love you.” he said on his Instagram posts when his billboard was hung on New York’s Time Square.
