Kevin Costlow was a reputed retired information technology executive who had lived his life with dignity and without any criminal records to his name. But his life started falling apart towards the end after he started believing he was Jesus Christ and started hearing and speaking to imaginary beings, Washington Post reports.
Costlow was shot by Sgt. Frank Pruitt, a Maryland sheriff’s deputy officer on the morning of February 6, 2021, after causing havoc in the motorway by crashing into two cars and attacking the officer with a stick after he had finished punching the bystanders and other motorists who stopped to help.

Kevin Costlow’s shooting video is available on YouTube as it was captured by a bystander civilian.
The officer’s bodycam did not capture the moment even after he had pressed the button to record the incident but for some reason, the camera did not start recording.
In the video available on YouTube, Kevin is seen holding a strong tree branch above his head while charging and marching forward towards the officer.
The officer is seen pointing his gun towards Kevin but Kevin did not stop and started hitting Frank in his head and shoulders. He hit the officer two times breaking the stick into several pieces.
When Kevin raised his hands the third time to hit officer Frank, he started shooting and did not stop until Kevin collapsed to the ground. A total of 12 shots was fired and 10 hit Kevin’s torso area according to Washington Post.
Frank might have perceived Costlow as a threat until he collapsed to the ground as he kept on marching towards the officer even after being hit by several bullets. The scene could take a nasty turn if Kevin had got the hold of Frank’s service weapon.
The video of Kevin’s shooting was recorded feet away from the actual incident by a person inside his vehicle. He collapsed right in front of the vehicle’s front door.

Officer Frank Pruitt today might be still serving in the sheriff’s office.
Pruitt was not held liable for the shooting of Kevin Costlow and was cleared from the case after an investigation.
He was placed under administrative leave after the incident and an investigation were conducted by the concerned authorities.
Frank was very defensive and did not fire the weapon until absolutely necessary and was reportedly heard on the radio saying I do not want to shoot this man.
