Kerry Fox Actor | Kerrie Fox Biography

Kerry Fox, born Kerry Lauren Fox is an actress from New Zealand. She became famous for playing the role of author Janet Frame in the 1990 New Zealand-Australian-British movie, An Angel at My Table.

The film was directed by Dame Jane Campion. The film earned her the Best Actress Award from the New Zealand Film and Television Awards.

Kerry Fox Actress Career

She has had an international career spanning over three decades. She has worked in both independent films and on TV. For her leading role in the 1994 Australian drama film, Country Life, she received praise and a nomination for the Australian Film Institute Awards. She starred in Danny Boyle’s 1994 dark comedy crime breakout British hit, Shallow Grave with Ewan McGregor. For her supporting role in the 1997 British-Canadian film, The Hanging Garden, she was nominated for the Canadian Academy Award (Genie Award).

For her portrayal of the character Claire in the 2001 British film, Intimacy, she was awarded the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival. In the film, she performed real, rather than simulated, fellatio. The film was directed by the late Patrice Chéreau.

In autumn of 2009, she appeared in the Duke of York’s Theatre production of Andrew Bovell’s play, Speaking In Tongues. In the play, she appeared alongside John Simm, Lucy Cohu and Ian Hart. Kerry played the role of Oriel Lamb in the TV adaptation of Tim Winton’s novel Cloudstreet in 2011.

The roommates David, an accountant played by Christopher Eccleston, Juliet, a doctor played by Kerry and Alex, a journalist played by Ewan McGregor settle on Hugo played by Keith Allen as their fourth roommate. They, however, find Hugo dead beside a large sum of money. Hugo died of a drug overdose. They decide to keep the cash but soon after each roommate start planning on how to scam the others.
