Ken Rosewall Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

Kenneth Robert (“Ken”) Rosewall Template:Post-nominals (born November 2, 1934) is an Australian former top-ranked amateur and professional tennis player who competed in the United States, Europe, and the United Kingdom. During his career, he won a record 25 tennis Majors, including eight Grand Slam singles championships, and before the Open Era, he won a record 15 Pro Slam titles and appeared in a record 35 Major finals. In 1963, he was the winner of the Pro Grand Slam. Rosewall won nine slams in doubles, including a career double grand slam, throughout his career. He is widely regarded as one of the best male tennis players of all time, if not the best. He was known for his backhand and had a lengthy and successful career at the top level, which spanned from the early 1950s through the early 1970s. For about nine years, he was one of the top two male players in the world, and he held the World No. 1 ranking for a period of time in the early 1960s. From 1952 through 1977, he was consistently rated among the top 20 players in the world, whether amateur or professional. During his career (1962–1963), Rosewall is the only player to have held three Pro Grand Slam championships on three distinct surfaces at the same time.

He achieved a historic first by winning the 1971 Australian Open without losing a set, which made him the first male player in the open era to do. Rosewall was born in Sydney, Australia, into a family of tennis players and owners of tennis facilities. He was born with a left-handed swing, but his father instructed him to switch to a right-handed swing. Because of his unconventional training (or maybe because of it), he developed a strong and efficient backhand, but he never developed anything more than an accurate but rather soft serve. With his short stature (he was just 5 ft 7 in) and heavy weight (67 kg [145 pounds]), he was sarcastically dubbed “Muscles” by his fellow players due to his lack of muscle mass. He was, on the other hand, quick, nimble, and relentless, and he had a lethal volley at his disposal. His sliced backhand was his most powerful stroke, and it, along with the very different backhand of former star Don Budge, has usually been regarded as one of the greatest, if not the best, backhands ever seen in professional tennis. Rosewall is the father of Brett and Glenn Rosewall and the grandpa of five children. He now resides in northern Sydney.
