Williams began her career as a children’s fashion model. She didn’t talk when she was a toddler so her father enrolled her into a theater program. She came out of her shell and she has made several appearances on stage such as Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, The Colored Museum, Butterfingers Angel, and Goin’ Home. She also did television commercials.
Kelli is best known for her role as Laura Lee Winslow in the television series Family Matters (1989) with Jaleel White. Their character had a love-hate relationship but in real life, the two were really good friends while taping for the show. After this, she started acting for the ABC television show What About Joan.
