Katie McGrath’s Age, Early Life, and Rise to Fame

Katie McGrath was born on the 3rd of January 1983. She grew up in Ashford, County Wicklow, Ireland. Her father’s name is Paul while her mother’s name is Mary. She has two elder brothers named Sean (online media manager) and Rory (who is into post-production). Given that the actress is the only girl in her family as well as the last-born, it is not surprising that she has always been treasured and adored by her family.

Katie McGrath completed the equivalent of a high school education at St. Andrews College in Dublin. After that, she studied Russian History at Trinity College, also in Dublin. Unlike some other actors who knew that they wanted to act from a young age, Katie McGrath did not grow up wanting to act. In fact, she grew up not knowing which career path to take. As such, while in college, she tried out several jobs including working as a tattoo artist, makeup artist, barmaid, and salesperson. However, none of these jobs felt fulfilling enough.

From these humble beginnings, Katie McGrath has gone on to accumulate an impressive portfolio consisting of several movies and TV series. On the big screen, she has appeared in movies such as W.E. (A king Edward VIII biopic directed by Madonna), A Princess for Christmas (2011), Jurassic World (2015), and King Arthur: Legend of The Sword (2017). Her most memorable role till date was the witch/villain, Lady Morgana, in the hit series, Merlin. The series, which is loosely based on the legend of Arthur and Merlin, ran from 2008 to 2012. It was so popular that it was broadcasted in at least 180 countries.

Katie McGrath is said to be in a relationship with her Merlin co-star, Colin Morgan. Colin Morgan is equally Irish and played the titular role of the young lovable wizard, Merlin. McGrath and Morgan reportedly started dating in 2010 after meeting on the set of Merlin. It must be stressed that neither of them has publicly confirmed this relationship.
