Just flying with the Thunderbirds requires training that focuses on squeezing exercises to prevent tunnel vision, along with breathing techniques known as a “Hook Maneuver,” which is a procedure designed to maximize lung capacity while experiencing the G-force. “Just like in a commercial airline, you’re going to have some changes in pressure as you go up and down in the air,” said Scheibler.
