During his ten years in Chicago, Sloan was known for his excellent defense and was an influential figure in the team, but after a series of knee injuries, he retired in 1976, recording an average of 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. The Bulls retired his #4 jersey in 1978, making Jerry the first-ever Bull with a retired jersey in the franchise’s history.
