Derek Draper was a published author and former political adviser from Chorley, Lancashire. He is a versatile man who worked as a public relations professional, a writer, a therapist, and many more.
He was a political aide to former Labour cabinet minister Peter Mandelson, and he was at the center of the “Lobbygate” scandal in 1998.
Following that, Derek retrained as a psychotherapist and spent three years earning his degree in California.
In the late 1990s, he was the Political Editor of the Modern Review, a columnist for the Daily Express for a short time, and a presenter on TalkRADIO UK.
He became the blog’s founder and editor in 2009. However, he resigned as editor following another scandal involving leaked emails.
Derek is a published author whose works include Blair’s 100 Days and Life Support.

But before that, he was hit by the covid and is bed-bound, and requires round-the-clock care.
“Derek got coronavirus and went to the hospital,” his wife explained. It appeared at first that he would have a Boris Johnson moment and escape relatively unscathed, but it has now attacked all of his vital organs.

In March 2020, Derek Draper became infected with Covid-19. He was admitted to the intensive care unit, but he went into a coma as his condition deteriorated.
In June, Kate revealed that her husband was covid free but has damage throughout his body. She stated he has holes in his heart, liver damage, pancreas damage, and diabetes, which he wasn’t before.
Kate express her concerns as he’s been on dialysis since his kidneys stopped working. And the virus had affected his nerves and neurology.
He was discharged from the hospital after more than a year. However, he will continue to receive round-the-clock care at the family’s adapted property in North London after spending more than a year in the hospital.
When a world-renowned US doctor approached her after seeing Derek’s plight on TV, the GMB star pursued the trip.
In November of last year, the couple flew to Monterrey, Mexico, so Draper could begin the trial.
They will return next month for a second 28-day stay, during which doctors will continue to monitor his brain, liver, and lung function.
While he still requires 24-hour expert care, he would die in three days if left alone, Kate continues to do an incredible amount of it herself.
