Karina Lombard is a French-American award-winning actress and singer. Over the years, she has appeared in several projects such as ‘The L Word’, ‘The 4400’, ‘Rescue Me’, and ‘Legends of the Fall’. She was born on the 21st of January, 1969 in Tahiti, French Polynesia, France as the youngest of five siblings.
As a child, their family moved around a lot however, she mostly studied in Switzerland. Despite Karina Lombard being originally from France, her first language was Spanish, although of late, she can also speak fluent English, Italian, French, and German. At age 18, she moved to New York City and started her career as a model and actor.
Modeling
After a while working as a model, Karina Lombard got her breakthrough in a Calvin Klein photoshoot in a Native American theme. One of her photos was chosen to be displayed on a billboard. Subsequently, her photos as a model appeared in magazines such as Elle and Vogue. She went on to study acting and in the process, also gained stage acting experience.
Acting
Karina Lombard studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and the Actors Studio in New York. She then started acting on stage at the New York City Gallery theatre and the Neighborhood Playhouse. Later, she landed her first film role as a princess in ‘L’île (The Island). Sometime after, she got her first major role in the film, ‘Wide Sargasso Sea’ in 1993. That same year, she also got a supporting role in ‘The Firm’.
In 1994, Karina Lombard was featured in the film ‘Legend of the Fall’ based in Jim Harrison’s novel. Next, she appeared in ‘Last Man Standing’ beside Bruce Willis in 1996. Sometime in the 2000s, she started partaking in television roles with an appearance in ‘the 4400’ and also the first season of ‘The L Word’ as Marina Ferrer. Next, she got a recurring role as Genevieve on ‘Rescue Me’ (2004).
Years later, In November 2016, she played in the NBC TV series ‘Timeless’ as chief Nonhelema.
