Karen Malina White is an American film and television actress. White is best known for her roles as Kaneesha Carter, In the 1989 drama film Lean on Me. As Charmaine Brown during the two final seasons on The Cosby Show and its spin-off. A Different World, Nicolette Vandross on Malcolm & Eddie and the voice of Dijonay Jones on the Disney Channel animated comedy The Proud Family.

‘The Proud Family’ Is Returning To Disney+ With New Episodes, Show Star Teases Possible Reboot

Disney Channel’s popular animated sitcom ‘The Proud Family’ is returning to the small screens on Disney+. The show which aired in the early 2000s was a hilarious and iconic cartoon program.

During the red carpet premiere of the new movie 47 Meters Down Uncaged, Tommy Davidson, a cast member, announced the return of the beloved sitcom. Tommy was the voice of Oscar Proud, the head of the Proud family. The original show was Disney’s first series to star predominantly black cast. The show depicted the life of a modern black family living in a suburban area. It ran between 2001 and 2005 with a total of 52 episodes.

The show focused on Penny Proud and her relationship with her family and friends. Her family included an energetic father, an even-tempered mother, a take-no-shit grandmother, and twin baby siblings. The original cast included Kyla Pratt, Tommy Davidson, Paula Jai Parker, Jo Mary Payton, and Tara Strong. Karen Malina White, Soleil Moon Frye, Alisa Reyes, Orlando Brown and Raquel Lee were also part of the cast. The show had many famous guest stars like Gabrielle Union, Kobe Bryant, and Mariah Carey.

Even though no official announcement has been made, but fans all around the world are jumping with joy. Many have tweeted their favorite scenes from the show.
It has been 14 years since the show was last telecasted. Everyone is wondering what the reboot will have in store for the viewers. The launch date has not been announced yet. Disney+ launches on 12th November. We will have to wait until then to find out more about the show.
