Stemming from a Haitian New Jersey household, it’s safe to say that media connoisseur Karen Civil has reached higher heights than she ever thought possible, most recently developing, sponsoring and executing a personal philanthropic project in Haiti, the LiveCivil playground.

Deeply intertwined in the digital music marketing industry since the 2000s, Civil had a mini-empire in digital hip-hop media and strategic marketing by the time she celebrated her 29th birthday.

Civil and The Live Civil team began the planning and production of the Live Civil playground inPétionville, a suburb of Port-au-Prince Haiti in 2014. Most recently, the team also decided to remodel a local middle school right next to the play area.

“Even as a child, my parents have instilled the importance of giving back, especially to the community that has given to you. Haiti gave me my family and my heritage so this playground is only my first way of giving back to Haiti.
She knew music was her passion in middle school, creating a Backstreet Boys fansite that landed her in third place in a national fan site competition.
