Kali Uchis Younger Days and her career
A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Karly-Marina Loaiza came into the world on July 17, 1994.
Her parents moved back to Colombia when she turned five years old. Throughout time, Kali Uchis’s family members immigrated to Virginia.
Her dad called her “Kali Uchis,” which signifies a “black eagle.”
At the completion of her senior year at high school in 2012, Kali launched a mixtape that caught the attention of famous names in the music world.
After missing school and disobeying her parents’ restrictions throughout her teen years, Kali was thrown out of her house, which led to her staying in her car.
She was more enthusiastic about writing screenplays rather than appearing in the limelight. She started writing poems, lyrics, and songs.
Apparently, destiny had other intentions.
Drunken Babble, Uchis’ first mixtape, was launched on August 1, 2012, shortly after she graduated.
That was followed by her debut EP, Por Vida, which she released three years later.
In 2014, she started working with Snoop Dogg on the album “On Edge” for his mixtape That’s My Work 3.
Her 2018 debut album, Isolation, was highly praised.
This album featured the song “Telepata,” which then became her first solo Billboard Hot 100 charting song.
She has been nominated for three Grammys total: two regular and one Latin.
Early in 2021, the song’s popularity grew due to a lip-sync competition on TikTok.
Kali Uchis received her first Grammy in 2021 for Kaytranada’s “10%.”
Now, she’s planning to travel alongside Tyler, The Creator, Vince Staples, and Teezo Touchdown in 2022.
