Justin Warren Career
Justin started learning music and performing arts in elementary school. At the age of eight, he wrote and directed various short films with a home video camera. He also participated in the school choir and also took part in several stage plays. In tenth grade, he started writing original music and playing guitar.
Justin while at the college he recorded two solo albums of original music, both of which were highly reviewed. Justin played in over ten plays and won awards for his bold playwriting. He and five classmates went overseas and performed for a summer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the largest theatre festival in the world. They co-wrote and played a hillbilly adaptation of Macbeth, which they sold out multiple times and received a four-star rating by the Fringe critics. In 2008, Justin and his family were featured in CNN Documentary “Black in America: The Black Man” with Soledad O’Brien, which was viewed by over 25 million people all over the world.
After finishing college, he went to work for the Methodist Church as a youth director. There he taught and mentored over fifty youth, enacting and encouraging spiritual growth, equality, and justice. During his proprietorship, he applied for the film program at USC and was accepted, while in the middle of planning his wedding with his longtime college girlfriend.
Justin wrote and directed many films, in addition to editing and doing sound work on two thesis documentaries. After finishing university, Justin served for Tremolo Productions under Oscar-winning director, Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom), where he co-edited a series of short documentaries for Barbra Streisand’s multi-platinum album, Partners.
Recently, Justin wrote, directed, co-edited, produced, and co-starred in his first comedy main film, “Then There Was Joe.” The film features comedian, Ray Grady, who just debuted his half-hour special on Kevin Hart Presents: The Next Level on Comedy Central. The movie premiered on February 3, 2018, in Little Rock at the Ron Robinson Theater, for a standing-room-only, sellout crowd. The Arkansas Cinema Society, founded by writer/director Jeff Nichols (Mud, Midnight Special, Loving), showcased the film as the first of its Homegrown Film Series. “Joe” is currently on a national screening tour. Justin wants to use his talents to heal the world through laughter.
