Father R. James Long, a philosophy and Latin professor at Fairfield University, and mother Wendy Lesniak, a former actress who has primarily starred on stage, welcomed Long into the world as the middle of three sons in Fairfield, Connecticut.
His grandma came from Italy. Long was raised in a “sort of conservative” Catholic home. Damian, his older brother, is a Weston High School teacher and a local theatrical performer.
Long attended the Jesuit-run Fairfield College Preparatory School as well as Vassar College, where he performed in many plays, including Butterflies Are Free, and was a member of the sketch comedy ensemble Laughingstock.
He co-starred in the 2009 films He’s Just Not That Into You and After. life alongside Ginnifer Goodwin in opposition to Christina Ricci and Liam Neeson.
