American actor Justin Kirk rose to fame for his memorable work as Prior Walter in Mike Nichols’ adaptation of the novel Angels in America.
He was nominated for the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for this performance, but Jeffrey Wright ultimately won. In the television series Weeds, Kirk played the character Andy Botwin, who is also well-known.
Kirk assumed the lead role in the procedural drama series APB in 2017, but sadly Fox canceled the program after the first season. He did, however, continue to make waves in the television industry, and in 2021 he appeared in an episode of the HBO series Succession called “What It Takes.”
In his brief time on screen, Kirk had a big effect as the controversial and right-wing online provocateur Jeryd Mencken. He returned to play the character in Succession’s fourth season in 2023 because of how well received his portrayal was.
According to Kirk, Jeryd Mencken isn’t based on a particular person, but his role on the show is just as significant as that of a series regular, as observed by GQ magazine.
