American actor Justin Kirk, who was born on May 28, 1969, has distinguished himself through a variety of theatre and cinema roles. His portrayal of Prior Walter in Mike Nichols’ film adaption of Angels in America is among his most illustrious performances.
He was nominated for the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for this performance. Along with his co-star Jeffrey Wright, he had a standout performance even if he didn’t win the award. Kirk’s performance of Andy Botwin in the television series Weeds was another example of his talent.
Kirk was raised in a variety of circumstances and was born in Salem, Oregon. His father was of Danish and English ancestry, while his mother was of Russian-Jewish descent.
He went to a primary school on a Native American reservation during his formative years in Union, Washington. His family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, when he was 12 years old. There, he attended high school and developed a love for acting at the Children’s Theatre Company.
Kirk relocated to New York City after finishing high school, where he immersed himself in the thriving music scene of the early 1990s. In various bands, including The Dimestore Darlings, he was the guitarist. His actual interest, though, was acting, so he pursued it by enrolling in Circle in the Square Theatre School’s two-year conservatory acting program.
