Scott Brand, the spouse of Julie Goodyear, has disclosed that she suffers from dementia. The role of Bet Lynch in the BBC soap opera Coronation Street is the one for which Julie Goodyear is most known.
In response to the diagnosis, Brand said, “My beloved wife and I have had to come to terms with this devastating news.” Regrettably, Julie has been losing her memory for a while.
“Despite consulting experts in medicine for guidance and support, it is now obvious that there is no prospect of curing her sickness. Instead, a slow decline—possibly even one that is hastened—is envisaged.
In the role of Bet Lynch, who made her television debut in 1966 and joined the ensemble as a regular in 1970, appearing in more than 25 years, Julie Goodyear, 81, played the part.
Due to her roles as a barmaid and later the landlady of the Rovers Return pub, which helped her earn a lot of notoriety in the soap opera industry, she was one of the longest-running stars on the show. She briefly returned to the role in 2002 and 2003 for a handful of episodes each time.
Brand stressed the importance of making the diagnosis public due to the potential to impact Goodyear’s interactions with her followers.
