Judge Timothy Walmsley is presiding over the trial of the men accused of assassinating Ahmaud Arbery. He is generally in charge of a court nearly 80 miles away.
But, he happens to be the judge in the trial after all five judges in Brunswick, Georgia, where the murder occurred, exempted themselves.
The trial on November 16 was marked by a heated exchange between defense attorney Jason Sheffield and the judge, Timothy presiding over the case. He motioned for the jury to step outside.
We wish that the Judge, Timothy, will bring justice to the victim and reveal the truth about his death. The perpetrators must be punished, and proper judgment must be rendered.
Before becoming a judge, he worked as a Chatam County Magistrate.
He was an environmental consultant for a firm in Washington, DC. He conducted extensive site work and research on a wide range of environmental issues.
He is considered one of the fair, respected, and tough judges. He was also listed under the “40 under 40” notable Savannahians by The Savannah Business Report and Journal in 2004.
