Who is Josh Kiszka (Greta Van Fleet)? Wiki Bio
Josh Kiszka was born in Frankenmuth, Michigan USA, on 23 April 1996 – his zodiac sign is Taurus and he holds American nationality. He is a singer, best known as a founding member of the Greta Van Fleet band.
Early life and education
Josh was raised in Frankenmuth alongside his twin brother Jake and their two younger brothers, by their father who is a businessman, and their mother who is working at a cleaning company. All four brothers began listening to music at a very early age, while Josh first started practicing on a toy guitar he received for a birthday.
Josh also spent a lot of his free time in front of the TV watching movies, and had a dream of becoming a famous actor, and is still immensely interested in venturing into the film industry.
He was physically very active while growing-up playing football and soccer with his brothers, while their parents took them skiing every winter. While spending their winters high up in the mountains, the four brothers always had guitars with them, and someone was always playing and singing. After matriculating from high school, Josh did not enroll at college but rather became focused on his career as a musician.
Career as a musician
Josh grew up listening to musicians such as Keith Richards, John Denver, and Eric Clapton among many others, while his favorite band is Led Zeppelin to which his own band Greta Van Fleet is often compared to, while Led Zeppelin’s frontman Robert Plant has on several occasions stated how Greta Van Fleet is a talented group.
Josh, Jake, their younger brother Sam, and Kyle Hauck founded the band in 2012 while the idea for the band’s name came from the name of a resident of Frankenmuth – Gretna Van Fleet.
The first two songs they recorded were entitled “Cloud Train” and “Standing On”, and this was before Kyle Hauck left the band in October 2013 with Danny Wagner replacing him as the drummer. Their first Extended Play (EP) was recorded in one ‘take’ on 28 February 2014, including the songs “Standing On”, “By the Riverside”, and “Down to the River”.
They became somewhat famous after the release of the song “Highway Tune” on 17 January 2016, and after it was performed live in the “Shameless” Showtime show.
The song’s music video came out on 19 April 2017, and their EP called “Black Smoke Rising” followed on 21 April, with Apple Music naming Greta Van Fleet as their new artist of the week. Their first tour was during May 2017 with The Struts band.
Greta Van Fleet received the Best New Artist award at the Loudwire Music Awards in October 2017, then released their EP “From the Fires” on 10 November. In January 2018, Elton John asked the boys if they would perform at his Academy Award Party which was held on 4 March 2018 and which they accepted, and from there, the boys made their debut TV appearance in “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on 26 July 2018.
Their debut album entitled “Anthem of the Peaceful Army” was released on 19 October 2018, becoming the best-selling album by selling over 80,000 copies in its first week, and reaching #3 on the Billboard 200. They were nominated for four Grammy Awards in December 2018, winning the Best Rock Album. Some of the songs they have recently released are “Lover, Leaver” and “Always There”, which is the soundtrack of the film “A Million Little Pieces”.
Love life and relationships
Josh doesn’t normally talk about the girls he is dating, but the Pinterest.com website seems to hold a lot of pictures of the music star’s current girlfriend.
The two allegedly met at a party organized after the band performed at a pub, and were introduced by a mutual friend who believed they would be a match. Allegedly, they have been together for over a year now, while keeping the details of their love life hidden from the public. Before he began dating the mysterious girl, Josh was reportedly in a relationship with his high school sweetheart for over three years, however, after his band became famous, the girl allegedly became overly jealous, leading to their split.
Hobbies and other interests
Josh is very passionate about writing which is his main hobby (as well his job), and has written all of the band’s songs.
