Josh Dun (Joshua William Dun) is an American musician. He is the famous drummer and percussionist for the musical band Twenty One Pilots. He serves as half of the band alongside frontman Tyler Joseph.

Dun was born and raised in Columbia, OH. He was raised beside two of his sisters and brother Jordan. Growing up, Josh had a huge interest in music, as a result, he started playing the trumpet and later the drum at a young age. Moreover, he did not go to college because he preferred to focus on his musical hobbies. Nevertheless, Dun was enrolled for trumpet lessons at school, but was “never awesome at it”.

Dun began his career working at the Guitar store beside Chris Salih, where he worked for three years. In March 2010, Josh joined ‘House of Heroes’ as a drummer by after the band’s original drummer, Colin Rigsby, decided to take a break and spend time with his family. Josh served for the band till October 2010 when Colin made a come-back to rejoin the band.

Chris Salih invited Josh to ‘Twenty One Pilots’ (21 Pilots) show after he heard the band’s original demo CD. Mesmerized with their performance, Josh befriended Tyler Joseph, the band’s lead vocalist. The same year Nick Thomas and Chris Salih left 21 Pilots due to their demanding schedules. This earned him a chance on which he left his job at the Guitar Center and joined the band to help Tyler Joseph for an upcoming show. Eventually, Josh became a permanent member of ‘Twenty One Pilots’.

On July 8, 2011, Twenty One Pilots released their second album titled ‘Regional at Best’. The pair signed with the prestigious record label ‘Fueled by Ramen’, a subsidiary of ‘Atlantic Records’ in 2012. Subsequently, the duo released their third and most successful album named ‘Vessel’ on January 8, 2013, which won several accolades. Two days prior to the scheduled release of the band’s fourth album, ‘Blurry face’ was released on May 17, 2015.

Vessel the album comprises 14 songs of different genres including Alternative Rock, Indie Pop, and Electropop. Tyler elaborated that the objective album was to reveal the true faces of people behind the visage of false identities that people set up. Each of the songs helps uncloak the falsehood and unfolds the real nature of men hiding behind the façade. ‘Holding on to You’ was the most popular song, according to statistics in the album. The song ‘Heathens’ from the album ‘Suicide Squad’ became a smash hit when it was released in 2016. It won the MTV Video Music Award for ‘Best Rock Video’ and the iHeart Radio Music Award for ‘Alternative Rock Song of the Year’.
