Joey Manu Eye Injury Update
During the NRL rivalry match between the two teams on Friday night, Kiwi Sydney Rooster star Joseph Manu got a high shot on his eye from South Sydney Rabbitohs star Latrell Mitchell.
Manu was knocked out by a shoulder after Mitchen’s poor shooting, and the seriousness of his injuries was immediately apparent as his eye and face swelled up. After the game, he was sent to the hospital right afterward.
On Saturday, Manu had facial reconstruction surgery at a Brisbane hospital.
Following that, Mitchell and South Sydney will pay a high price for the tackle, opting for a six-week penalty rather than a nine-week punishment if the case went to the NRL’s judiciary.
However, Mitchell is said to have apologized to Manu since the incident, and the former Roosters teammate is recovering in hospital.
On Sunday night, Manu is scheduled to return to the Roosters camp.
