He has acted in one of the most famous sitcoms ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’. His performance as a comedian was what impressed the producers of ‘Lost’. This allowed them to specially prepare the character of Hugo ‘Hurley’ Reyes. This made him the first to be cast in the series which ultimately launched his career.

Jorge Garcia: Bio

The actor was born Jorge Garcia on April 28, 1973, in Omaha, Nebraska. He grew up in San Juan Capistrano in Orange County, California. Jorge’s father is called Humberto García, who is a doctor and was born in Chile and Dora Mesa, his mother is a teacher born in Cuba.

On educational history, Jorge attended San Clemente High School, where he participates in wrestling. The cute-faced boy was dubbed as the “Baby-Faced Killer.” He also liked to act in his school days. For all his interest and excellence in extracurricular activities, Garcia wasn’t too bad academically either. Later in his senior year, he was titled ‘Newt of the Year’, the highest award ever given to a senior graduate. Let’s just say he is a multi-talented person.

After graduating from high school, Jorge attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) graduating in 1995. He majored in Communication Studies.

Garcia previously worked at a record store, but later left the job because she was asked to cut her long, curly hair. However, he stayed true to his natural appearance and made it big in Hollywood.

Jorge Garcia: Career and Net Worth

Jorge took the first step of his acting career in 1997, after completing his studies at the Beverly Hills Playhouse acting school. He began auditioning for film roles while working at Borders Books and Music. Garcia then landed gigs in television commercials, most notably in a Jack in the Box commercial.

Little by little he got small roles in movies and television series. His first part was in Becker where he played Héctor López for 13 episodes.

Jorge later appeared in 181 of the 121 episodes of the television series Lost. Along with his other Lost cast members, Garcia received a 2006 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

He has also worked for other concert films such as Little Athens (2005), Deck the Halls (2006), and Sweetzer (2007). After the successful end of Lost, he had guest roles on How I Met Your Mother, Mr. Sunshine and Fringe. Jorge was also cast in the FOX series, Alcatraz, however the show was canceled due to poor ratings.

Garcia’s professional journey does not end here. In 2013, he played Apple engineer Steve Wozniak in the parody film iSteve. He then began appearing on season 4 of Hawaii Five-0 as a guest star and moved on to a lead role in season five.

After all the hard work, Jorge has been able to amass a net worth of $5 million. He leads a lavish lifestyle and has several houses across the country. The talented actor also seems to be a huge fan of dogs and music.

Jorge García: Weight loss, body measurements and height

Due to Jorge’s weight, it is easier for us people to easily identify him in a crowd. It was said that he had lost around 30 pounds in weight before filming LOST. I later picked it up again while the program was running.

His weight soon became a concern for cast members who feared he might contract deadly weight-related diseases. Then, in 2012, Jorge tried to practice a diet called ‘Nooch’ another word for Nutritional Yeast, however in images Garcia still shows himself with a great body. Despite all his efforts, he seems to settle for the way he is.

The 45-year-old actor is 6 feet 1 inches tall and weighs around 300 pounds.
