Chelilim -Koti Moja is now serving as the governor of Uasin Gishu County, since the August 9, 2022, election. The governor got employed at Moi University, Department of Information Science in the year 1996 and served up to the year 2007.

He began his first posting at Library Department and due to my extraordinary interactive skills which were immediately picked by the university leadership, Chelilim was transferred to the Dean of Students office.

It was at that point, in a bid to professionalize his mentorship and interactive abilities, that he enrolled and pursued my first degree in counseling.

While at the Dean of Students office, among others, they founded a generational impactful program dubbed MOI ACADEMIC OUTREACH along with Prof Some – then VC, Prof.Olanyangapuo – then Principal Chepkoilel,Dr. Mr and Mrs. Aruse, Prof Jacob Bitok , CS of Agriculture Peter Munya, Prof Chepkwony former Governor Kericho, Dr. Bor, Dr Arusei, Hon Dr. Susan Chebet Former WR Keiyo among others where Uasin Gishu governor was the main coordinator of the program as well as the junior in the rank of them all but took the coordination role

Out of this great movement, where they went to churches, schools, village barazas, weddings, and burials to preach the new opportunities of going back to school-mainly university to study under the innovative parallel academic program they pioneered in Moi university that later permeated all other universities and created a thirst for education as many hopeless school dropouts, Form 4 leavers, primary school teachers, etc. who attended those powerful motivational mentorship programs meetings, started to troop in their thousands to universities as well as colleges to do diplomas, degrees mainly Moi university and subsequently colleges in Eldoret town began mushrooming in large numbers courtesy of our efforts.

This generational changing mentorship program borne thousands of currently qualified professionals in all fields and most of whom were Chelilim the greatest sponsors during his gubernatorial bid journey. The governor said that he is so proud of his mentees in the thousands who heeded his advice.

Indirect successes of MOI ACADEMIC OUTREACH included the mushrooming of many colleges in Eldoret town, as many of those mentored by Hon Jonathan and were burning inside them for education came to Eldoret town to seek new ventures in academia.

This program also had a tremendous multiplier economic impact in this town as there was a push and demand for hostels, housing, food, hotels, etc. and this city became an education tourist city which is common knowledge to every being through the concerted effort he pioneered.

There are as well, those in thousands that by faith having joined his mentorship programs, they came to town to try out life and ended up being successful business persons in this town.

Now this massive academic success brought a challenge of tremendous unemployment as those that had joined universities for training graduated and didn’t have jobs and this pushed his colleagues and him to think of joining politics to influence policymaking for job creation and notably, his team including Prof Chepkwony former Governor Kericho, Prof Stanley Chekwony-aspired in Kuresoi north, Peter Munya current CS went to be MP in meru then, Hon Lonyangapuo went to be Senator, Hon Reginalda Wanyonyi –WR Bungoma, Dr. Chebet who become WR Elgeyo Marakwet among many others. Chelilim vied then in Eldoret North and later Soy Constituency.

Having debuted and lost the parliamentary seat, and because of my undying love, resilient spirit, and burden for those I had mentored, I re-engineered a new program again called RE-ROUTE that exports the graduates and students to seek opportunities abroad and the program has been so successful as we now have hundreds of those that are in Australia, Canada, Qatar, and Europe countries and many more in the process to go out of these programs.
