Jonas Van Geel Biography

Jonas Van Geel is a Flemish, Belgian actor and presenter. He graduated  in 2006 from the Herman Teirlinck Institute. In 2002, together with Jelle Cleymans, Jef Hoogmartens and David Bracke in their cabaret company Slaan and Zalven, they made the performance Ge4endeeld .

In December 2005, he did an internship with Toneelgroep Ceremonia and Het Toneelhuis ion with Eric De Volder in the performance Au nom du père , it was re-recorded in the next season. As a graduation project he played with his class, under the direction of Peter Van den Eede , a performance of Publikumsbeschimpfung , for the ITS Guest Award for best international performance at the International Theater Schools Festival in Amsterdam . In 2008 the group formed the collective aka Johnny and they brought the performance Het Licht, based on the eponymous novel by Torgny Lindgren .

In 2007, he played children’s theater for the first time, a role in Zwijnen! , an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus by Mieja Hollevoet for children aged 9 and older. In the following years, he would also play a lot of children’s theater, like theater company Froe Froe.

In 2009, with Dimitri Leue, they played the ecological show Tegen de Lamp . In 2011, they worked on the equally ecological double show of Dimitri Leue DODO Klein and DODO Groot . They together made and played DODO Klein. Dimtri Leue has made DODO Groot and he directed the performance in which Jonas played. On 2 October 2012, Van DODO Klein published an audiobook in which Van Geel assumed the same role again.

Belgian TV Hosts Got Married On The Air As Part Of Social Media Stunt

Jonas Van Geel and James Cooke said they’d tie the knot if their show got 200,000 likes on Facebook.

Two Belgian TV presenters got married on a VTM talk show show recently, fulfilling a promise to fans after the show reached more than 200,000 likes on Facebook.

After the stunt went viral, the pair turned their nuptials into a Jonas & Van Geel episode that ran October 28, and used the publicity to raise money for Belgium’s Red Nose Day, which aims to “offer more psychological help to adolescents and to break the taboo that comes with psychological problems” through comedy.

According to Pink News, Jonas and James invited 500 guests at €12 ($13.25) a pop, and wound up raising more than €6000 ($6,624) for the charity.

It’s unclear if the ceremony was legal—or if the men are even gay— but they wound up with one hell of a wedding video and a nice chunk of change for a good cause
