Who is John Paul Tremblay?

John Paul Tremblay was born in 1968, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and is is a Canadian actor, comedian as well as a screenwriter. In addition, he is recognized for his appearances in TV comedy series such as “The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour” and “Sunnyvale Shoals”.

Trailer Park Boys

In the late 1980s, John Paul teamed up with his high school friends Robb Wells and Mark Clattenburg, and the trio began filming themselves while practicing often crude jokes on random people. In 1995, alongside newly joined member Mike Smith, John Paul and Robb filmed their black-and-white short comedy film named “The Cart Boy”. Three years later in 1998, the same crew released another short comedy movie, entitled “One Last Shot”.

However, it turned out that it certainly wasn’t their last shot, but the very beginning of a successful franchise. At the Atlantic Film Festival in 1999, their official comedy movie “Trailer Park Boys” was presented to the audience, and received positive reviews. Directed and primarily written by Clattenburg and with Tremblay, Smith and Wells in the title roles, the story follows ‘petty’ ex-cons documenting their everyday adventures living in a trailer park.

Following its initial success, two years later the “Trailer Park Boys” TV comedy series premiered on Showcase, featuring Tremblay in the leading role of Julian, as well as Smith and Wells portraying the roles of Bubbles and Ricky LaFleur respectively. Following the trio’s daily struggles to acquire some money through a variety of con schemes and petty crimes, the show quickly earned an army of fans, and went on to produce the total of 11 seasons before it was called off in 2018.

John Paul Tremblay has reprised the same role in several other installments of this humoristic mockumentary saga. It includes a couple of critically acclaimed movies such as “Trailer Park Boys: The Movie” (2006), “Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day” (2009) and “Trailer Park Boys: Don’t Legalize It” (2014). Besides these, it includes several TV movies, such as “Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys” from 2008, “Trailer Park Boys: Live in F**kin’ Dublin” and “Trailer Park Boys: Live at the North Pole”, released in 2014, and the 2015 sequel “Trailer Park Boys: Drunk, High & Unemployed”.

However, the greatest dose of the franchise’s popularity comes from its original TV series, enriched with several spin-off shows such as “Trailer Park Boys: Out of the Park”, and a more recent one named “Trailer Park Boys: Park After Dark”. In 2019 the world of “Trailer Park Boys” was enriched with “Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series”.
