John Moyer Career
Formerly, he was part of the Texas hard rock act The Union Underground. Previously, before his stint in The Union Underground, he was the bassist of the popular band Soak, also hailing from Texas.
While he is still capable of playing finger-style, Moyer prefers picking because it has a more aggressive feeling. On February 8, 2012, it was announced that Moyer joined the supergroup Adrenaline Mob while Disturbed is on hiatus.
Moyer was announced to be filling in for Rudy Sarzo on bass for five tour dates in Geoff Tate’s lineup formed after his dismissal from Queensrÿche, on April 19, 2013.
On August 4, 2014, Moyer announced that he would not be joining Adrenaline Mob for their upcoming fall tours. As a result, the band began looking for a new bassist, thus ending Moyer’s tenure with the band.
In January 2015, he originally formed the band with Scott Weiland, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, twins Jon and Vince Votta entitled Art of Anarchy, and released their debut self-titled album in 2015 shortly before Scott Weilands’ death in December 2015.
John Moyer Disturbed
Disturbed is an American rock band formed in 1996 when musicians Dan Donegan, Steve “Fuzz” Kmak, and Mike Wengren hired singer David Draiman. Since the band’s formation, they have sold over 11 million albums worldwide, released three consecutive number-one albums, and have been nominated for making them one of the most successful rock bands in recent years.
Only six other rock bands have had three consecutive studio albums reach number one in their first week of release: Van Halen, System of a Down, U2, Dave Matthews Band, Staind, and Metallica.
Moyer is currently the bassist and back-up vocalist for the rock band Disturbed, replacing their former bassist Steve “Fuzz” Kmak. Additionally, he also published Disturbed’s third studio album Ten Thousand Fists and fourth album Indestructible.
Moyer joined Disturbed in 2004, his playing can be heard on the band’s third (Ten Thousand Fists), fourth (Indestructible), and fifth (Asylum) studio albums. All three albums appeared No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and between them they produced eight No. 1 singles on rock radio. Additionally, John also played on the last Disturbed release, The Lost Children, a collection of B-sides and rarities.
Disturbed was also nominated for a Grammy Award for their song “Inside The Fire” off the album, Indestructible.
