Biography (Age, Religion)
John Richard Kasich Jr. (John Kasich) was born May 13, 1952 and grew up in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh, as the son of Anne (née Vukovich) and John Kasich Sr. Her father was of Czech descent while her mother was Croatian. Both of her parents were immigrants who worked as postal workers. They were devout Catholics and encouraged their son to adhere to the faith. After high school, John, also a Roman Catholic, considered becoming a priest but later pursued a different political career.
John attended public high school in his hometown before continuing his studies in political science at Ohio State University, where he joined the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. In freshman year, he was worried about the situation in America and had to write a letter asking him to meet with then-President Richard Nixon. The letter was delivered to the White House by the President of the University, Novice Fawcett, and in December 1970 he had a 20 minute meeting with the President, much to his delight. John Kasich graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1974 and then began his career.

John began working as a researcher with the Ohio Legislative Service Commission and, between 1975 and 1978, he served as an administrative assistant to then-Senator Buz Lukens. He ran for first political office in 1978 against Democratic MP Robert O’Shaughnessy. John Kasich won the seat of state senator, becoming the second youngest person to do so at the age of 26. He became Chairman of the House Budget Committee in 1995 and made a key contribution by introducing the welfare reform bill “Personal Responsibility and Employment Act” which was signed into law by President Clinton. He is also considered the mastermind behind a balanced federal budget for the first time since 1969 – the Balanced Budget Act of 1997.
Presidential ambition, private sector involvement and subsequent political activities
John Kasich had an interest in becoming the U. President and in 1999 he formed an exploratory committee to advance this ambition. However, he was nipped in the bud after insufficient fundraising, and in July 1999 he dropped the idea and endorsed Texas Governor George W. Bush.
He then worked as a host on Heartland with John Kasich on the Fox News channel in addition to being a guest host on The O’Reilly Factor when Bill O’Reilly is unavailable and making guest appearances on Hannity & Colmes as well.
The former Republican congressman served on the board of several companies including Invacare Corp., Chicago-based Norvax Inc., and investment bank Lehman Brothers. All the while he was contemplating a return to political life and in 2010 he was elected Governor of Ohio and defeated sitting Democratic Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. He repeated the same victory in 2014, defeating Democrat Ed FitzGerald. He again revived his presidential ambitions in 2016 with Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. John Kasich, however, could not secure the right to play and had to suspend his campaign on May 4, 2016.

Karen was born on December 26, 1963 in Upper Austria. Arlington, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. She studied at Ohio State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications.
