John Easterling was best known as the handsome, caring and lovely husband of Newton-John. Newton-John wed John Easterling, the founder and president of the Amazon Herb Company, on June 21, 2008, in an Incan spiritual ceremony in Peru. Nine days later, on Jupiter Island, Florida, she wed him legally. Newton-John died of cancer at her home in California, aged 73, on 8 August 2022.

Newton-John was the daughter of Welsh parents Brinley “Bryn” Newton-John (1914-1992) and Irene Helene (1914-2003) on September 26, 1948 in Cambridge, England. Her Jewish maternal grandfather, Max Born, a Nobel Prize-winning scientist, emigrated to Britain from Germany before World War II with his wife and children to escape the Nazi dictatorship.
