John D. Witherspoon – Reese Witherspoon’s Brother, Instagram Photos

49-year-old John D. Witherspoon is the older sibling to Hollywood sweetheart Reese Witherspoon.

Although the siblings have close family ties, he got his hands dirty when he got busted for barging into a young woman’s home in Tennessee and proceeded to violate her.

The 25-year-old was his next-door neighbor, and she quickly identified him, leading to an eventual arrest. He escaped jail time after getting released on a $10,000 bond.

Since then, he remained cautious of his actions, keeping his name out of the headlines for his sister.

John D. Witherspoon is the older brother of Primetime Emmy Award winner Reese Witherspoon.

There is no doubt that the siblings convey a tight-knit connection as she always cites him as her biggest supporter.

In 2020, she took to Instagram to wish him a happy birthday when the two stood in front of a birthday cake. In the post, she acknowledged his unwavering support since the beginning and is the best uncle to her kids.

Indeed, their adorations are nothing new, as she told Vanity Fair that they could communicate without words since childhood.

There are rare instances of such love between a pair of opposite gendered siblings, but they call it the southern traditions.

When she returns home to Nashville and needs a chauffeur, he is happy to oblige.

Their uncanny resemblance became a topic of discussion when pictures of their younger days resurfaced. The phenomenon is nothing new in the Witherspoon household, as her son and daughter are carbon copies of their mother.

Growing up in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana, he was born on 15th October 1972. He spent his childhood in the strict upbringing of their militant father, John Draper Witherspoon, and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, an otolaryngologist.

Their belief in Episcopalism was a by-product of their southern upbringing as they got taught the sentiment of others’ feelings and being responsible for one’s actions.

His father’s job entitled him to spend the first four years of his life traveling in Germany before moving back to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1980.

Their day-to-day life took a massive turn when his sister scored a modeling gig for television advertisements at seven, eventually getting her breakthrough role in 1991 for The Man in the Moon.

Did John D. Witherspoon Face Sexual Assault Charges?

John D. Witherspoon got arrested in 2002 in connection to aggravated burglary and sexual battery.

There was not much advancement to the case, but he ended up pleading guilty to charges as he did not face jail time.

But he was sent to two years on probation and fortunately had a clean slate.

His actions returned to haunt him when his beloved little sister faced the same treatment when she entered showbiz while still a teenager.

In 2017, she came out with her story when she admitted to her many experiences of sexual assault and harassment throughout her career. It began when she was only 16, and a director found her an easy target. Her agents worried about her profession as they told her to remain quiet.

The experiences haunted her for years as she vividly recalls finding it hard to sleep, think, and communicate the bulk of her feelings. The guilt ate her alive as she did not speak up sooner and instead listened to the unlawful words of the people.
