The 23-year-old is the son of actor John C. Reilly and film producer Alison Dickey. Reilly’s son Leo, has an altogether different, which is to say conspicuously more contemporary, idea about the value of privacy.
Like his dad, Leo is an artist: He went to college for fashion design, and he recorded music on the side, under the name LoveLeo. As the music earned a sizable following—and a major-label record deal—he dropped out to focus on it.
He wasn’t ever quite sure what he’d eventually do for a living, but he knew that reaching his goals would require engaging with his audience in a way his father never had.
“I was building a pretty substantial following on social media, and so I knew that whatever I wanted to do, I had at least a little bit of a platform to jump-start and give it a really good chance of succeeding” was how he put it. “I don’t think my parents really understood that quite as much.”
His modelling career appears to have taken off, too. Reilly walked the runway for Moschino at the Universal Studios backlot. He’s currently in a relationship with a fellow model, Julia Marie, and seems to be close with Dad, too, as evidenced by this sweet birthday tribute.
What this sudden burst of interest in Leo Reilly will mean for his career remains to be seen, of course ― but he’s certainly ambitious.
“I want to have my music career and fashion career go hand in hand,” he said last year in a student publication at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, where he was studying fashion design. “I also want to have a space where people can do concerts, runway shows, pop-up shops, really whatever they want ― I just want to be able to facilitate a space for people to showcase what they are passionate about.”
