Joe Lockhart is an American communication expert and spokesperson famously known for being the nineteenth White House Press Secretary from 5th October 1998 to 29th September 2000, during President Bill Clinton administration. Prior to his recruitment to the White House, Joe worked for various democratic politicians such as Paul Simon, Michael Dukakis and many others as press secretary.

Joe Lockhart was born on 13th July 1959 in Suffern, New York. He relocated to Washington D.C where he attended Georgetown University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History. One year later after his graduation, he worked on the re-election campaign of Jimmy Carter.

He landed his first job right after graduation working in the re-election campaign of Jimmy Carter. In 1984, he worked as a press secretary of Walter Mondale‘s presidential campaigns, then he also worked in the senate for Paul Simon.
Joe relocated to Robinson, Lake, Lerer, and Montgomery together with Mike McCurry.He also worked with ABC where he covered the Romanian Revolution of 1989, a period of civil war in Romania. He worked as a reporter on Sky News and one of his coverage was the Gulf War.

Joe was recruited back to politics by Mike McCurry where he joined Clinton’s re-election campaign as the spokesperson and became the Deputy Press Secretary when Bill Clinton was elected as the president. After he succeeded McCurry, e delivered his first speech as a press secretary on 5th October 1998. He held the position of a press secretary and participated in handling the press during the 2000 Camp David Summit and Clinton’s Impeachment which was initiated on 8th October 1998when the United States House of Representatives voted to begin impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton, the 42nd president of the United States, for “high crimes and felony”.

 

Joe was elected as a senior advisor on the John Kerry presidential campaign in September 2004. CBS News on 8th September 2004 streamed a controversial detail on presidential Candidate George Bush‘s military record, a controversy based on Texas Air National Guard, he lost his fight status and whether he fulfilled the requirements of his military service contract.

 

The legitimacy of the ‘Killian documents’used in the report is under investigation. After a few days, t was revealed that Joe Lockhart, still a senior advisor to presidential candidate John Kerry by then, on 4th September had made a phone call to Bill Burkett who was a Texas National Guard Officer. Unfortunately, he denied the allegations stating that his conversation over the phone with Bill Burkett had nothing to do with the National Guard affair.
