Joe Exotic Parents: Meet Francis Schreibvogel and Shirley Schreibvogel

Joe Exotic, a zookeeper and television personality, was born in 1963 and is the manager of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park in Oklahoma. He gained notoriety for his odd behavior and his involvement in a murder-for-hire plot. He was sentenced to 22 years in jail in 2020 for two counts of murder-for-hire and animal abuse.

Exotic was raised in Texas after being born in Kansas. He was the police chief of Eastvale after graduating from Pilot Point High School. After selling his pet store due to his brother’s dying, he constructed the G.W. Zoo.

He oversaw the zoo while running cub-petting sessions, magic shows, an internet talk show, and a reality TV project across the nation. Exotic was arrested three months after leaving the G.W. Zoo in 2018 on accusations of hiring two people to kill Carole Baskin, the director of Big Cat Rescue and a longtime rival of his.
