Bio of Jodelle Ferland
Popular Canadian actress Jodelle Micah Ferland was born on October 9, 1994 in Mansion, British Columbia, Canada to her parents, Marc and Valerie Ferland. She was raised by her parents along with her siblings – Marisha and Jeremy Ferland.
At age 4, she made her film debut in the TV movie Mermaid in which she played the heartbroken character young Desi. The film was an instant hit which led to young Joelle being nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award, making her the youngest winner in Emmys history – a record she still holds to this day. She even got more recognition by winning the Young Artist Award at such a young age.
After the success of her first film, she went on to make several appearances in some television series which include Trapped (2001), Smallville (2001), They (2002), Dark Angel (2000), The Collector (2004), for n’ to name a few.
In 2005, she was doing even bigger things when she got a chance to star in Terry Gilliam’s drama. Tideland. A film centered on the life of a young girl who has lost both parents to an accident and decides to use the power of her imagination as a coping mechanism. The film became an instant hit among moviegoers; a Genie Award Best Actress nomination lends more substance to that claim.
Building on the success she recorded in 2005, she took it to a whole new level the following year. She appeared in the 2006 film Silent Hill where she played the character of Alessa Gillespie – a powerful psychic born out of wedlock. She also landed a supporting role in the movie Good Luck Chuck in which she played the character Lila Carpenter. That same year, she filmed Affaire 39 but it was not released until 2009 due to some problems in post-production.
Jodelle Ferland’s big break came, however, in 2010 when she had the role of Bree Tanner in the third film in the Twilight series, Eclipse. It was later learned that she accepted the role without even looking at the script. Since then, she has gone on to feature in several other screen projects such as Goodbye My Daughter, My Daughter’s Shame, and Dark Matter.
