A hunting and fishing guide from Idaho and Bush pilot Jim Tweto, who was well-known for his leading role in the Discovery Channel’s “Flying Wild Alaska” series, were murdered when their small plane crashed shortly after takeoff, according to Alaska State Troopers. In three seasons of the television show from ten years ago, Tweto’s family-run Unalakleet-based rural aviation company was highlighted. He passed away on Friday with passenger Shane Reynolds of Orofino, Idaho, close to the coastal community of Shaktoolik, about 125 miles (200 kilometers) east of Nome, according to the statement.
Around 11:48 on Friday morning, troopers received word of an SOS activation and a report that a Cessna 180 had crashed 35 miles northeast of Shaktoolik.
