The Details Of Jim Hood Murder Investigation
On August 19, 1990, Bonnie Hood was shot and killed in her cabin at Camp Nelson, Tulare County, California.
Rudy Manuel, the lodge groundskeeper, was wounded in the room.
The investigation into the murder faced difficulties due to the lack of physical evidence.
He claimed that he and Bonnie were attacked by an unknown white male intruder who demanded money and shot them.
Investigators considered the possibility that the motive was a deliberate hit, as the intruder reportedly told Bonnie, “I know you, bitch,” before shooting her.
Manuel identified Beauchamp as the man who shot him and Bonnie. Beauchamp was charged with murder and attempted murder but was acquitted due to Manuel’s denial of his relationship with Bonnie.
On March 22, 1992, Beauchamp was shot to death by Jim Hood, Bonnie’s husband. Hood claimed that he shot Beauchamp in self-defense, but the evidence at the scene indicated otherwise.
Hood was detained on suspicion of first-degree murder and ultimately found guilty of murder and gun usage.
He served 23 years before being paroled on April 23, 2017. Hood was never prosecuted for Bonnie’s death, but prosecutors believed he was behind the hit-for-hire plot.
