Jim Goetz is an American venture capitalist and entrepreneur. He is also a partner with Sequoia Capital and well known for his main focus on mobile and enterprise startups. they include AdMob, WhatsApp and GitHub. He also announced in 2017, that he was stepping back from his leadership duties with Sequoia.
However, he continues to invest and also represent the firm on Company boards. Jim was raised in the Midwestern United States. Jim is also a graduate of Strongsville High School. In 1983, he attended the University of Cincinnati. From there, he received a B.S. in electrical and computer engineering from the same University.
Later on. he attended Stanford University and earned an MS. in computer systems. Aside from all that, Jim also started a Ph.D. but he chose to pursue a career in product management. His early stints were working with AT&T and SynOptics. Jim also became a vice president at Bay Networks and then left in 1996 to co-found a software company named VitalSigns.
Its Co-founders include Rajiv Batra and Monty Kersten. Jim worked so hard to raise 5.5 Million from Sequoia Capital back in 1997. From there, Jim partnered with Accel partners with a venture capital firm.
