Back in 2000, Jones made her screen debut, on the Saturday morning series City Guys. Later that year (2000), Jill Marie won the co-leading role alongside Tracee Ellis Ross, Golden Brooks including Persia White on the UPN comedy series, Girlfriends which was generated by Mara Brock Akil.
She played the role of self-centered and materialistic Toni Childs for six seasons of the series. In May 2006, it was confirmed that her contract ended on Girlfriends and she left. In an interview the following year (2007), Jones responded saying she didn’t think if Toni came back and when she says no she means it claiming there are still brilliant writers on ‘Girlfriends.
For herself and her career, Jone’s contract was up after six seasons and there’s a whole film world that she wanted to experience and that’s what she had been doing. Jones says she thought if Toni came back to the show, there would be so much more to write about and much more to bring. That was a testament to how great Mara and the rest of the writers are.
After leaving Girlfriends, Jones started starring in films.
