Jewell Loyd is an American basketball player who was born on October 5, 1993. She now plays for two teams: Perfumerias Avenida of the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto in Spain and the Seattle Storm of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA).
After playing collegiate basketball at Notre Dame, Loyd was taken first overall by the Seattle Storm in the 2015 WNBA draft.
Loyd began her basketball career at Skokie’s Niles West High School. She played for four years and had an amazing record, averaging 24.8 points and 11.9 rebounds per game and scoring 3,077 points in her career, helping the team to a 93-31 record.
Loyd continued to play basketball professionally after her college stint at Notre Dame, playing for different overseas teams throughout the offseasons. In 2015, she appeared in 17 games for Galatasaray in Turkey, averaging 14.9 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.
She joined the Shanxi Flame of the Chinese League for the 2016-17 offseason the following year. For the 2017-18 offseason, she joined Guri KDB Life Winnus of the Korean League. She later signed with Botaş SK of the Turkish League for the 2018-19 season in August 2018.
Loyd continued to play for various international clubs before signing with Perfumeras Avenida of the Spanish League for the 2019-20 offseason 2019.
