They advanced to the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2010 after defeating the Phoenix Mercury in the semi-final match. In the Finals, Loyd helped the Storm defeat the Washington Mystics in a three-game sweep, giving her her first championship ring.
The following year, Loyd continued to play at a high level, scoring a season-high 23 points and making an appearance in her second all-star game. The Storm lost to the Los Angeles Sparks in the second round of the playoffs after failing to successfully defend their championship.
