Jerry Lee Lewis Wife: Is Jerry Lee Lewis Married?

A singer, songwriter, and pianist from the United States, Jerry Lee Lewis was born on September 29, 1935. As “rock n’ roll’s first great wild man and one of the most influential pianists of the 20th century,” the man known as “the Killer” has been characterized.

Jerry Lee Lewis went to Memphis, Tennessee, in November 1956 to appear in a Sun Records audition. Sam Phillips, the proprietor of the record company, was in Florida when Lewis recorded his cover of Ray Price’s “Crazy Arms” and his own song, “End of the Road.”

Jerry Lee Lewis started making a ton of recordings in December 1956, both as a solo performer and as a session musician for other Sun performers like Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash.

The old Union Avenue studio where Phillips had recorded B.B. King, Howlin’ Wolf, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Lewis, Johnny Cash, and others was abandoned when Phillips opened a brand-new, cutting-edge studio at 639 Madison Avenue in Memphis in 1960.

Phillips also opened a studio in Nashville at the same time. Jerry Lee Lewis recorded his lone big hit during this time in the latter studio, a cover of Ray Charles’ “What’d I Say” in 1961.

Although Jerry Lee Lewis’ 1957 single “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On” helped propel him to international recognition, “Crazy Arms” sold 300,000 copies in the South. After marrying Myra Gale Brown, a 13-year-old cousin, his rock and roll career, however, took a turn for the worse.
