Jeffrey Spaide was a engineer from Pennsylvania who was seen in a viral video that filmed two 50-year-old neighbors James Goy and 48-year-old Lisa Goy after a conflict during snow shovels. According to Citizen’s Voice, the two were shot dead during the argument shortly after insulting Spaide, who died of a bullet wound on their own.
According to online records, Spaide was from Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. His LinkedIn page says he was a “professional engineer with experience in water / wastewater projects, landfills, transfer stations and other waste processing facilities.”
According to LinkedIn, he worked as a facilities engineer for the Lackawanna River Basic Sewer Authority for five years. He also worked as an environmental engineer manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and as a project engineer for the Carroll Engineering Corporation for more than 10 years.
His duties with the Department of Environmental Protection included serving “as chief of the regional permitting section and supervised professional staff engaged in the review of plans, specifications and permit applications to determine conformance with Commonwealth laws and Department of Environmental Protection regulations.”
He was previously an engineering technician and heavy equipment operator with the U.S. Navy. He had a master’s degree in water resources and environmental engineering from Villanova University and a bachelor’s degree from Wilkes University in environmental engineering.
Spaide was certified as a professional engineer in the State of Pennsylvania. Spaide’s obituary says that Jeffrey A. Spaide, 47, of Plains, “passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at his home.”
It says he was born in Wilkes-Barre to William Spaide and the late Margaret (Gibbon) Spaide.
The obituary then recounts his engineering pedigree, saying, “Jeff was employed as a licensed engineer for over 20 years. He also served in the United States Navy, working as a shipboard engineering technician. He later transitioned into the United States Army National Guard and United States Navy Reserve as a heavy equipment operator.”
The obituary says he was a marathon runner who enjoyed “spending time with his family, especially his nephew. … He was a loving son, brother and uncle who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.”

The Dispute Started When the Goys Threw Snow Onto Spaide’s Property
Prosecutors say the disastrous debate took place less than 9pm on Monday, February 1st. According to surveillance footage obtained by investigators, James and Lisa Goy 48 were clearing snow from parking spots and dumping it on the grounds of Spaide across the street.
Police said Spaide confronted the couple about snowplow and soon began making suggestive gestures and insults. James Goy seemed menacingly lifting his fist, then Spaide retreated into his home. Prosecutors returned with the gun and shot the married couple in the middle of the street. Then he went inside.

A highly graphic surveillance video has emerged showing the footage. You can watch it below, but be aware that it is extremely disturbing. Although it is not clear what triggered the conflict in the video, the snow captures Goys, who exchanged insults with the snowcreen and Spaide.
A man shouts “Fuck you”. “You are a fucking asshole,” said Lisa Goy. Other insults featured in the video include “bitch” and “you’re a bastard”.
Then Lisa Goy says, “Go ahead, go on.” Spaide then shoots both Goys. Lisa Goy falls into the street and goes next to her and shoots him again at close range.
James Goy yelled as he fled, “Call the police, I’m shot”. He shot me. Spaide then chases after James Goy and takes another shot. Other people rush to help the fallen couple.
Officials Say The Dispute Began With Goys Throwing Snow On Spaide’s Property. The Luzerne County Attorney told Fox56 that the “Goys” were “clearing snow from their cars” while Spade “shoveled the driveway”. According to the TV channel, Spaide asked Goys to stop “throwing snow on Spaide’s land”.
This started the war of words. The station reported that Goy threw snow and “raised his fist” by lifting “tools” at Spaide.
The Goys continued to insult Spaide even after seeing him go out with a gun. The newspaper said, according to prosecutors, Spaide shot the Goys with a pistol and then entered his house to buy an AR-15-style rifle to shoot them some more.
A relative, with this photo a tribute to Goys, partly said, “Happier times, not long ago. 3 of these beautiful people are no longer with us. My aunt… was abducted by cancer and now the lives of my cousins Jimmy and Lisa are meaninglessly shortened. … It’s been a tough year for my Goy family. We get so caught up in life and little quarrels. The lifetime given to us is often very short. Learn to forgive, don’t sweat for small things and spend this time with your loved ones because you never know when this will be the last. It is stated that Lisa Goy left a son behind.
